How to Remove Floor Tile Adhesive
Cover up the patches of adhesive with a citrus-based sticky remover. They can be found at most home repair stores.
After waiting for the recommended period for the sticky remover product, use your scraper to work up the released material. If your tile was installed with tile mortar or thinnest — both of which will look like cement — you might need to use a chisel and hammer to chip away the more substantial pieces.
Throw patches of raised adhesive into a bucket.
Proceed until all floor tile adhesive has been removed.
Our Pro advice: Be sure to keep the area well cooled by opening windows or use of the fan.
Raising the Underlayment
If the underlayment is water hampered or torn up after removing Adhesive, it may be a moment to remove it:
Eliminate any screws that you can recognize.
Use your pry bar to pull the underlayment up. Don’t worry if it breaks, as you won’t be reusing it.
Continue prying until the underlayment has been completely removed.
